The defending champs De La Salle Green Archers defeated the UP Fighting Maroons, 77-66, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on November 10, 2024 to secure a top seed finish in the UAAP Season 87 elimination round. With one game left on its schedule, La Salle clinched the top spot with a 12-1 slate and also stretched its winning run to nine games. UP dropped to 9-3 but was still assured of a top two finish and a Final Four twice-to-beat bonus like La Salle.
