MANILA, Philippines — ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo once again emerged as the frontrunner in the latest survey on senatorial preferences.

The 2025 Pre-Election Senatorial Preferential Survey conducted by Tangere in December showed, however, that Rep. Tulfo’s support was notably weaker among upper and middle-income classes compared to the lower-income sector.

Another Tulfo is in the Top 12, Ben, who hosts “Bitag,” a public service program, which deals with the arrest and prosecution of criminals. He shares the 2nd to 4th spot with former Senate president Tito Sotto, and Sen. Bong Go as they are statistically tied. Ben Tulfo received 51 percent voter preference, backed by strong support from the Visayas. Sotto followed closely with 50.50 percent, enjoying significant preference in Northern Luzon and Central Luzon while Go garnered 49.50 percent, largely driven by support from Mindanao.

The same survey highlighted significant gains for incumbent Senators Pia Cayetano and Bong Revilla, as well as former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson. Voters from Southern Luzon, Northern Luzon, and Central Luzon primarily contributed to the rising support for both Cayetano and Revilla. Meanwhile, Singson’s increase in voter preference was driven by respondents from the National Capital Region (NCR), Northern Luzon, and Central Luzon, although he registered lower support in the Visayas and Mindanao.

From the 5th to 7th spots, Sen. Pia Cayetano is statistically tied with former senator Manny Pacquiao at 42 percent and former senator Ping Lacson who has a 41.54 percent voter preference.

In the 8th to 9th spots, Sen. Bong Revilla and former Local Government secretary Benhur Abalos are tied, although Abalos enjoys support among voters in the upper and middle-income brackets.

The lower portion of the rankings includes nine candidates statistically tied for the 10th to 18th positions. Among them are incumbent Senators Lito Lapid (32.17 percent), Francis Tolentino (31.08 percent), Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa (30.92 percent), and Imee Marcos (30.83 percent). Makati Mayor Abby Binay followed with 31.96 percent. Former senators Bam Aquino (30.75 percent) and Kiko Pangilinan (30.63 percent) also secured strong preferences. Comedian Willie Revillame garnered 30.42 percent, and social media personality Doc Willie Ong rounded out the group with 30.21 percent.

Tangere conducted the mobile-based survey between December 10 and 13, 2024, with a total of 2,400 respondents and a margin of error of +/- 1.96% at a 95% confidence level. The sample was distributed nationwide, with 12 percent of respondents from NCR, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from the Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
