It has been the longest summer and nothing makes me happier than slowly transitioning into Autumn — my most favorite season of the year. Just like the years that preceded it, summer 2024 was filled with growth, big lessons, heartbreak, and in small ways, triumph.
As cheesy as it may sound, Autumn reminds me of the beauty of falling leaves as trees prepare for a rebirth in the spring. Since uprooting my life and moving to a whole new — a season of change and growth. The crisp autumn breeze carries with it the promise of change, a welcome respite from the relentless heat and heaviness that seemed to define the past few months. This transition feels particularly poignant this year, as we — a period of intense upheaval and transformation.
This period, especially the one this year, reminds me of the powerful concept of a tower moment, a thought that is deeply rooted in ancient wisdom and symbolism. The tower moment as patiently described by teachers represents times in our lives when everything we thought we knew comes crashing down around us. Like a bolt of lightning striking a tall tower, these moments are sudden, often devastating, and have the potential to reshape our entire world view.
I daresay the summer has been heavy both personally and on a global scale. Each challenge tested my sense of security while challenging my own comfort zones, as if the universe was creating a perfect storm of transformation. I used to be afraid of tower moments and I probably still am, however, I know that despite the debris around me, this is a powerful and wonderful opportunity for growth.
The beauty of tower moments, despite their initial shock and pain, lies in our ability to clear away what no longer serves us. They strip us bare, forcing us to examine our foundations and rebuild on firmer ground. This summer, many of us have been compelled to reassess our priorities, reevaluate our relationships, and reconsider our paths forward.
As I reflected on this summer’s tower moments, I learned these gems that I would like to share just in case you too are going through your own tower moments:
Resilience in the face of adversity: Understanding that the worst is never quite the worst and we always have an inner strength to push forward with the tools provided to us.
The importance of community: No matter how small the circle is, there would always be people who would have your back through and through and I am grateful.
Adaptability as a crucial skill: The only thing permanent in this life is change and these moments prepare us for those changes.
The power of vulnerability: It’s extremely difficult for me to open up to people but I’ve realized that the real ones will love you no matter what.
The necessity of self-care: Amidst the chaos, taking time for ourselves has proven essential for survival and growth. It can be as simple as taking a walk, a breath, or even developing a new hobby.
As you go through this new season, I pray you are equipped with the strength you need to know that each tower moment is an opportunity for a new exciting chapter and you have all you need within you to move forward.
