MANILA, Philippines — Mo Tounkara falsified the rumors stating that he’s leaving the UST Growling Tigers for another UAAP team.

In a report by UST’s The Varsitarian on Tuesday, Tounkara denied such rumors which he said even surprised him, not knowing where it came from.

“Everything they said was not true at all, that’s all I can say about it,” Tounkara said to The Varsitarian.

“I did not even talk to any one of my coaches. We have not talked about anything yet. It just surprised me, those kinds of stuff about something in my life. I don’t even know,” the foreign student athlete added.

The 6-foot-8 Malian center said that he’s going to clarify things with the Growling Tigers coaching staff and management.

“I think I have to clarify these with my coaches, the staff, and management. We’ll see. We’ll see in the next days,” said Tounkara.

Tounkara registered 13.4 points and 10.7 rebounds in the recently concluded UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.

Joining forces with Forth Padrigao and Mythical Team member Nic Cabanero, Tounkara helped the Growling Tigers reach the Final Four for the first time in five years or since Season 82 back in 2019.

UST fell to eventual champions UP Fighting Maroons in the semifinals.

Tounkara said people just can’t go out and post something unverified on social media.

“They cannot do these kinds of things, like posting this on social media. That is not very good; it’s disrespectful to my personality, to my reputation, and to my career, which is something I really care about.”
