MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said that the owners of a construction company, one of the partners of the Commission on Elections for the 2025 midterm polls, were planning to file their candidacies in his city..

On his Threads handle, Sotto first thanked Comelec Commissioner George Garcia for acting to preserve the polls’ integrity, but urged the public to remain on guard.

“They are planning to file their candidacy in Pasig,” referring to the people behind St. Timothy Construction Corp., which is in a joint venture with the Comelec, along with Miru Systems Ltd., Inc., the South Korean-based service provider.

“Imagine being a financier/contracting party for Comelec’s automated election machines, and running in the same elections? Hindi ko maunawaan kung paano nila naiisip na OK lang yon,” (I don’t understand how they thought this was OK”), he added.

Sotto also said these were the same people behind the St. Gerrard Construction and Development Corporation that was also behind St. Timothy.

“The same people are behind ST GERRARD CONSTRUCTION and ST TIMOTHY CONSTRUCTION. They go around using ST. GERARD as if it’s a political party,” the mayor explained.

He went on to say that both companies have the same address at Barangay Malinao in Pasig City and also the same incorporators.

“This is well known in many circles. The evidence is also overwhelming– the 2 construction companies have common incorporators, use the same business address.. the Presidents of both companies even declare the same RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS,” Sotto said.

He also revealed the company’s “questionable” track record as government contractors, citing that they were suspended by the Department of Public Works and Highways for submitting a fake tax clearance certificate from the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

“Dapat malaman ng tao ang mga bagay na ito. Wala yatang ibang magsasabi kaya ako na lang,” (The people should know these things. Nobody else would do it, so I will say it.) Sotto said.

St. Gerard’s chief financial officer, Sarah Discaya, is expected to run against Sotto as Pasig City mayor.

On Thursday, Garcia announced the pullout of St. Timothy as a third party partner in the upcoming polls, when it found out that its owners had plans to run in the elections.
