MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer fights for dear playoff life when it battles the Hiroshima Dragonflies in a crucial East Asia Super League home and away season 2 game Wednesday evening at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Japan.
The Beermen (0-3) enter their 6:10 p.m. game as the decided underdogs against the Dragonflies who lead Group A wirh their 3-1 record.
SMB is now in a must-win situation against the reigning Japan B.League champion Hiroshima, with the PBA’s most decorated squad having to contend with the Dragonflies’ high-scoring import Dwayne Evans II.
The 6-foot-6 American forward is coming off a dominant 33-point performance on Christmas Day, leading the Dragonflies to a crucial victory against erstwhile unbeaten Taoyuan Pauian Pilots in a titanic showdown between Group A leaders.
The Beermen will need a massive effort from Jabari Narcis, the team’s fourth import in the EASL this season.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Trinidad and Tobago, will team up with Torren Jones, another recent import who made his EASL debut in San Miguel’s 71-62 loss to Hong Kong Eastern on December 18.
Jones registered 19 points and 11 rebounds in that game.
The Beermen will be needing huge scoring productions also from Juen Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez and Marcio Lassiter.
