THE National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) with Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP) will commemorate Dr. Jose Rizal as perito agrimensor (master surveyor) with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Luneta, Manila on Nov. 25, 2024 at 8 a.m.

The GEP president along with regional chapter representatives will be present along with NHCP officials. A short talk by NHCP researcher and historian Eufemio Agbayani III on how Rizal finished and utilized his perito agrimensor license will follow at the Epifanio delos Santos Auditorium of the National Library of the Philippines at 10 a.m.

Rizal is more known as a writer, physician, farmer, anthropologist, archaeologist and linguist. Little is known about this aspect of his life and the event hopes to shed light on and appreciate his successors in career, Filipino geodetic engineers and surveyors of the present.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and heritage through research and publication, heraldry, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, administration of national shrines and museums and conduct of commemorative programs.
