CARCAR CITY, Cebu — Police arrested a 40-year-old man in Bohol on Friday, September 27, on a rape accusation filed by his 61-year-old mother, a widow.

The rape incident reportedly occurred inside their home at 5 a.m. Authorities have withheld the names of both the victim and the suspect, along with their exact location, to protect their privacy.

The suspect had recently been released from prison on September 18, after serving a 14-year sentence for murder.

Following his release, he allegedly sought out his mother after one of his siblings informed him of her whereabouts.

The victim told police she had abandoned her son when he was four years old but later took him in, and they lived together in Davao City. When the suspect turned 20, he allegedly raped her for the first time, but she did not report the crime due to his threats to kill her.

In the recent assault, the suspect reportedly arrived at his mother’s home intoxicated after attending a wake.

He entered her room while she was asleep, lay beside her, hugged her, and began touching her inappropriately. Despite her resistance, he raped her.

After the assault, the suspect begged for forgiveness, claiming he could not control himself because he was in love with her. He then threatened to kill her if she went to the police.

This time, the victim decided to file a report. Police launched a manhunt and found the suspect still at the victim’s home, drunk and crying as he asked for forgiveness. He admitted to the crime and surrendered voluntarily.

Authorities placed the suspect in custody and are preparing to file rape charges against him.
