MANILA, Philippines — Just one day after Filipino weightlifters captured the first three gold medals, the country got its fourth gold medal at the 2024 Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar.
On Saturday, at the Youth Women’s 55-kilogram category, Jhodie Peralta clinched the gold, after lifting a total of 184 kg, besting India’s Koyel Bar (182 kg) and Luong Thi Thanh Tuyen of Vietnam (178 kg).
At the snatch, Peralta was able to lift 84 kg, while she got the silver medal in the clean and jerk, clearing at 100 kg, behind Bar who cleared at 103 kg.
On Friday, at the men’s youth 49 kg event, Eron Borres captured the gold in the snatch, while teammate Aldrin Colonia took home the gold in the clean and jerk and the total overall lift.
