MANILA, Philippines — “Pepito” is now a super typhoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday.

In a 10 a.m. advisory, the state weather bureau said Pepito was 215 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar with maximum winds of up to 185 km per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph.

Its movement is west-northwest at 25 kph.

The public is asked to monitor the weather bureau for more updates.
