CALAPAN CITY — Heavy rainfall warning is hoisted over the whole province of Oriental Mindoro as the local disaster risk reduction and management office placed the entire province under blue alert due to the effects of a low-pressure area (LPA) and shear line.
Provincial Disaster Disaster Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Vinscent Gahol told The Manila Times that as of Dec. 23, 2024, nine barangay in Baco, eight in this city, two in Naujan and one in Victoria have been flooded.
“A total of 22,181 individuals or 4,788 families are affected. The 67 families or 224 individuals are in the evacuation centers while 1988 individuals or 419 families either evacuated to their relatives or neighbors whose houses are on safer grounds,” said Gahol.
The PDRRMO also posted on their social media page that three barangay roads in Baco and one in this city are not passable to light vehicles. Another four barangay roads in Baco and one in this city are not passable to all types of vehicles.
The post also identified that four river systems in Baco are in critical level. The Mag-asawang Tubig River is also on orange level and the Bucayao and Panggalaan rivers are on above normal level.
The ports in the province are in normal operations and the passenger terminal of buses and jeepneys are in normal condition.
