MANILA, Philippines — National University (NU) ended its four-game skid and added to the woes of Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) with a 78-68 win in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Saturday.
An 8-0 run spelled the difference for the Bulldogs as they turned a 63-58 lead in the last 6:14 into a 71-58 advantage with 2:54 to go.
NU hit timely baskets in the remainder of the contest, improving to solo sixth with a 2-5 slate.
Ateneo dropped to its third straight loss for a 1-6 record in the first round, its worst start in the Final Four era.
