MANILA, Philippines — It will be fair weather in the entire archipelago at least until the end of the month as the state-run weather agency has not monitored any tropical cyclones or low pressure areas in the coming days.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said three weather systems — northeast monsoon locally known as “amihan,” the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and localized thunderstorms — are bringing isolated or scattered rain showers in some areas of the country.

In particular, Aurelio said the ITCZ — an imaginary line where the air from the northern and southern hemispheres meets — has been affecting Mindanao particularly Caraga, Davao Region, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi.

On one hand, amihan, “cool and dry northeast wind coming from Siberia and Cigna and that blows down to Southeast Asia,” prevails in Northern Luzon.

This season, according to Pagasa, is characterized by slight to moderate rainfall and a prevailing cold wind that affects particularly east of the country.

Over the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to localized thunderstorms.
