MANILA, Philippines — NLEX collected big games from import Mike Watkins and Robert Bolick as the Road Warriors rolled past Blackwater, 107-95 to grab its first win in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Watkins finished with 26 points and 25 rebounds, while Bolick bounced back from a 1-of-11 shooting the last time out as he registered a double-double of 23 markers and 10 assists.

The Bossing fell to 0-2 in the mid-season conference while missing the services of rookie guard Sedrick Barefield.

NLEX coach Jong Uichico admitted that their 114-87 shellacking at the hands of NorthPort on Thursday roused the players, a reason why they were able to come up with a resolute effort versus Blackwater this time.

“It was embarrassing. One day preparation, not too much adjustments but it’s the players’ adjustment in not wanting to lose that way,” said Uichico. “They’re trying to make up for that loss against NorthPort.”

Ritchie Rodger chipped in 14 points while freshman Xyrus Torres knocked down three triples to finish with 12, while Enoch Valdez added 11 and five boards.

George King had to carry the scoring brunt as he led Blackwater with 40 points in a losing effort.

Justin Chua was the only other double figure scorer for the Bossing with 13.
