MANILA, Philippines — Former NBA star and Olympic gold medalist DeMarcus Cousins is set to reinforce the Strong Group Athletics club which will represent the Philippines at the Dubai International Basketball Tournament slated from January 24 to February 2 next year.

‘Boogie’ himself announced the development in a post on his official Facebook page on Saturday.

“I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaming up with Coach Charles Tiu, Jacob Lao and Strong Group Athletics to represent the Philippines in the Dubai International Basketball Tournament,” wrote Cousins.

“Cant wait to help bring home SGA’s first-ever Dubai International Basketball championship. Let’s get to work,” the 34-year-old added.

A four-time NBA All-Star, Cousins played for the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Denver Nuggets in a career that spanned from 2010 to 2022.

In 2023, Cousins took his act to Puerto Rico for the Mets de Guaynabo and then to Taiwan with the Taiwan Beer Leopards and Taiwan Mustangs.

The 6-foot-10 cager also helped lead Philippine club Zamboanga Valientes to a title sweep of The Asian Tournament in Zamboanga City last August.

Cousins last played for Wuxi in the 2024 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Circuit last October.
