MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila suspended face-to-face classes on Monday, November 11, 2024, due to the anticipated impact of Severe Tropical Storm Nika.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in the metropolis as the storm intensified.
This prompted the following cities to suspend in-person classes in both public and private schools:
Parañaque City – All levels in public and private schools
Muntinlupa City – All levels in public and private schools
Las Piñas City – All levels in public and private schools
Valenzuela City – In-person classes in all levels in public and private schools
The suspension of classes aims to ensure the safety of students, school personnel. Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and monitor updates from local government units and Pagasa.
