Iba, Zambales — Only 23 but with already a developed sense of responsibility and compassion for the people, Carl Eric Rico is running for a seat in the Sangguniang Bayan (municipal council) of this capital town.

The youngest among the candidates from Iba for the 2025 elections, Rico hopes to bring his youthful enthusiasm and vigor to the local legislative body.

Rico has been touted as a “Champion of Youth Leadership and Public Service” in Iba after serving as chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) of Barangay Amungan.

At a young age, he has shown his leadership skills and potentials in the political scene.

Rico is a leader shaped by both athletic and community-driven experiences. He ensured that the SK Development Fund was separated from the barangay’s general budget, allowing independent financial transactions dedicated solely to youth development.

Rico is also the SK Federation president of Zambales and an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial council).

He initiated a province-wide SK Planning Workshop, designed to enhance the leadership capabilities of SK officials, ensuring they remain informed on issues that directly impact the youth from strengthening local businesses to enhancing education and health services.

Rico’s vision for Iba is a community that thrives on inclusive growth, where governance serves as a catalyst for progress and development for all its citizens.
