MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino revealed that she is in isolation due to her ailments which now include the “supremely punishing rheumatoid arthritis.”
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Aquino, who came home in the Philippines after more than two years of stay in the US to address her multiple medical conditions, said she was recently hospitalized during which her white blood cell count dropped. She also developed severe allergic reaction to the last antibiotic she could still tolerate.
“What did that mean — wala na kong panlaban sa kahit anong viral or bacterial infection. I’m now in isolation. So many rules for family and friends na gusto akong dalawin (I no longer have any defense against viral or bacterial infections. I’m now in isolation, with many rules for family and friends who want to visit me),” she said.
“Yes, it’s lonely,” Aquino admitted.
“No matter how strong I am, there are moments — especially when my unexplainable allergies, lupus (with rashes, fever-like heat throughout my body, and migraines), and rheumatoid arthritis flares (the worst, stabbing, crushing deep bone pain in my knees, hips, and ankles) all hit at once, along with high blood pressure (170/116) — when I ask myself, can I still go on?” she added.
Despite these challenges, Aquino emphasized her positive mindset.
“What keeps me going? I refuse to disappoint all those praying for me. Ayokong maisip nyo na binalewala ko yung time and effort ninyo. Because your compassion has deeply touched my heart. Kaya #bawalsumuko #tuloyanglaban (I refuse to disappoint all those praying for me. I don’t want you to think that I took your time and effort for granted. Your compassion has deeply touched my heart).”
The post was accompanied by a photo of Aquino undergoing an ultrasound guided PICC Line Insertion, a minimally invasive surgery, in Makati Medical Center. She thanked the hospital for their “genuine concern” for her safety and well-being.
“I always try my best to highlight the positive because having six autoimmune conditions is depressing,” she wrote.
She also thanked the doctors in the photo, including Dr. Mike Padlan, whom netizens previously speculated to be her non-showbiz beau.
“Pinangalanan ko na po sya (I’ve named him already),” Aquino wrote.
