MANILA, Philippines — Iloilo International Airport fully resumed normal operations following a temporary runway closure on Dec. 22, 2024 for urgent safety repairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Monday.
The closure, from 7:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. was prompted by the discovery of two potholes on Runway 02.
CAAP said emergency repairs were completed on schedule, ensuring the safety of passengers and aircraft.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued on Dec. 21 minimized disruptions, it reported.
CAAP said during the temporary closure, nine flights were affected, including five delays, three cancellations and one diversion. Airlines assisted passengers to address concerns.
“Runway safety is paramount,” said CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo.
