SEN. Bong Go raised the need to pass Senate Bill (SB) 192 institutionalizing a rental housing subsidy program as he provided help to 54 fire victims in Iloilo City on November 7.

The senator, in a statement, said the aid distribution was part of his efforts to help disaster-stricken communities “recover immediately.”

Go’s team distributed grocery packs, snacks, water gallons, vitamins, shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs to the affected families.

Select individuals also received shoes and a mobile phone as part of the relief efforts.

SB 192 aims to develop a housing and social protection program that will give disaster victims better access to rental subsidies provided by the government.

Go said he filed SB 192 to reiterate his commitment to improving the lives of Filipinos, especially those in vulnerable situations.

Go said he authored Republic Act 11589 or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021.

The law mandates a 10-year modernization program that includes recruiting more firefighters, acquiring advanced fire fighting equipment, and developing specialized training programs.
