MANILA, Philippines — Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) survived a late surge from San Sebastian College-Recoletos, securing a 101-94 victory in the NCAA 100 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Saturday.
King Gurtiza starred with a career-high 27 points, adding five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
The Generals dominated the third quarter, leading by 19 points (76-57), but San Sebastian’s Ralph Gabat and Reggz Gabat fueled a fourth-quarter comeback, trailing by only five points (97-92).
EAC held on in the final 27.5 seconds to seal the win.
Wilmar Oftana and Harvey Pagsanjan contributed 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Generals.
San Sebastian’s Tristan Felebrico scored a career-high 30 points, but it wasn’t enough.
The Generals (6-6) are now tied with Letran and Lyceum, while San Sebastian fell to 3-9.
