MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) assured Filipinos of safe travel this Christmas season.

In a statement, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said the department and all its attached agencies remained on heightened alert for the Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024 initiative, which will run until Jan. 3, 2025.

As part of this initiative, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported monitoring 19,701 outbound passengers and 23,146 inbound passengers across all ports nationwide as of Dec. 23.

The PCG said it has deployed 2,854 frontline personnel across its 16 districts, who have inspected 182 vessels and 28 motorbancas.

To handle the influx of port passengers, PCG districts, stations, and sub-stations.

Bautista visited the OFW lounge, TNVS hub and boarding gates for both domestic and international departures. He also inspected North Harbor Port and checked on passengers waiting for their trips.

“The passenger experience looks positive, especially with the newly renovated parts of the passenger terminal. Seats are more comfortable, and restrooms are well-maintained,” he said. (endit) are on heightened alert from Dec. 20, 2024, to Jan. 3, 2025.
