MANILA, Philippines — The country will be expecting generally-fair weather all throughout the day except for scattered or isolated rain showers due to the easterlies in the afternoon or at night, the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.

Weather specialist Rhea Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the agency was closely monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Estimated some 305 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan, the LPA has a slim chance to develop into a tropical depression, the Pagasa forecaster said.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression outside PAR would also not be directly affecting the country as it is actually moving away from the Philippine boundary, she said.

Within 24 hours, the state weather bureau said the easterlies – winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – were bringing scattered or isolated rains and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and Aurora, among others.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be experiencing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
