MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies, shear line and localized thunderstorms will continue to affect the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said that the shear line – where the hot and cold air converge – is affecting extreme Northern Luzon particularly Batanes and Babuyan Islands where cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would be likely.

The easterlies – winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – would also bring overcast skies over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon, Castañeda said.

The same weather system is affecting Bicol Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley where isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would prevail in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the localized thunderstorms.
