EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized the Department of Education (DepEd)’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in all procurement and bidding processes within the agency.
According to the DepEd Memorandum 61, series of 2024, the Department underscored that bidding activities by the agencies should be in line with the Republic Act 9184, also known as the Government Procurement Reform Act, which followed the principles of transparency, competitiveness and accountability.
Secretary Angara noted that all suppliers and contractors would be given an equal chance to participate, ensuring that the Department secures the best services and products for schools.
Aside from that, DepEd also provided a stern reminder to the public, bidders, contractors, suppliers, consultants and employees directly involved in the procurement activity that any untoward activity, behavior or practice that would undermine and defeat the purpose of competitive procurement would not be tolerated by DepEd.
DepEd also reminded that any department officials and employees found guilty of being involved in illegal activities related to the procurement process shall be sanctioned and subject to disciplinary action, including dismissal from service.
The education chief likewise urged the public to support this agency initiative and report any information related to possible illegal or corrupt activities in the procurement process to walangkorapsyon@deped.gov.ph.
