MANILA, Philippines — Filipino weightlifters took home multiple medals during the first day of action at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Aldrin Colonia clinched two gold medals in the men’s youth 49-kilogram event, by winning the clean and jerk and the overall lift.
Colonia lifted 95 kg in the snatch and 118 kg in the clean and jerk, and totaled 213 kg.
Fellow Filipino Eron Borres won the gold in the snatch, having successfully lifted 97 kg, but failed to have a good lift in the clean and jerk.
Dao Bui Minh of Vietnam (204 kg) finished in silver medal position, while Babulal Hembrom of India (197 kg) took the bronze.
