MANILA, Philippines — Mapua University escaped pesky Jose Rizal University with a 75-71 win on Saturday in the NCAA 100 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Cardinals improved to a 7-3 win-loss card, while the Heavy Bombers fell to a 3-7 slate.
Rookie Yam Concepcion led Mapua with 19 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks.
Clint Escamis added 14, while Chris Hubilla made 13 to back up Concepcion.
JRU’s Joshua Guiab made and Shawn Argente identically made 16 markers.
