MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza confirmed the end of her seven-year relationship with actor Jak Roberto.

Forteza announced the sad news in an Instagram post on Thursday sharing photos from their time as a couple.

In the caption, she wrote a message of gratitude and closure beginning it with a quote from Dr. Seuss “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”

“Having you in my life was the happiest I had ever been. Seven wonderful years. A lot of laughs, a lot of ramen and so much love. Your love was exceptional. But sometimes, good things fall apart so better things can come together,” she said.

Forteza expressed her admiration for Roberto’s love saying, “Beautiful goodbye, @jakroberto. Thank you for loving me the way you did. I am excited for what’s to come for the both of us. You take care of yourself. May you find the love you deserve.”

While she did not reveal the details surrounding the timing or circumstances of the breakup, she appealed to fans for privacy.

“I hope for everyone’s understanding and I wish you can help us put this matter to rest,” Forteza said.

Forteza, 27, and Roberto, 31, started dating in 2017.

One of their first projects together was for director Louie Ignacio’s film “Laut” (2016) where the two portrayed characters from a Sama Dilaut community.

They began their relationship while working together on the TV series “Meant to Be” in 2017. They also teamed up for drama-fantasy series “Kara Mia” in 2019.

Roberto’s last project was “Black Rider” which concluded in July 2024. Forteza, on the other hand, currently stars in the series “Pulang Araw” together with onscreen partner David Licauco.
