MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to bring colder nights and mornings over Metro Manila and Central and Northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Friday.
Weather specialist Cheney Dominguez, of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said in a 5 a.m. briefing that the country would remain storm-free over the next few days.
She reiterated that amihan has been affecting the National Capital Region and the rest of Luzon where partly cloudy to overcast skies would be likely over the next 24 hours.
On one hand, the convergence of hot and cold air called shear line is bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and Quezon.
Another weather system, the intertropical convergence zone – an imaginary line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet – has been affecting Caraga and Davao Region where similar weather patterns would prevail, the national weather bureau said.
The rest of the country will be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms brought about by the localized thunderstorms, it added.
