MANILA, Philippines — The country can expect isolated and scattered rains and thunderstorms until Christmas Day due to the effects of three weather systems, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, weather specialist Rhea Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the tropical cyclone, “Romina,” or “Pabuk” (international name) was no longer directly affecting areas in Palawan and the Kalayaan Islands.
It was estimated some 250 kilometers west-northwest of Kalayaan but outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to the Pagasa forecaster.
The convergence of hot and cold air or shear line has been affecting Eastern Visayas, Cagayan, Bicol Region, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) in 24 hours.
On one hand, the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” will prevail over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija and the rest of Luzon, its 5 a.m. advisory said.
The rest of the country will be experiencing partly cloudy to overcast skies brought about by the localized thunderstorms, it added.
“So until Christmas Day, the country would likely have isolated and scattered rains and thunderstorms due to these three existing weather systems,” Torres said.
